Tools and Materials Needed
- Yellow ochre basecoat
- Pale yellow paint
- Foam roller and tray
- An image to decoupage
- Craft glue or wallpaper paste
- Foam brush
- Burnt umber glaze
- Burnt orange glaze
- Paintbrush
- Rag
- Crackle Varnish kit
- Artist's Oil
Recipe
- 1 part latex paint
- 3 parts glazing liquid
How To..
- Apply 2 base coats of ocher to cover the table and let dry for 4 hours.
- Mix pale yellow, burnt orange and burnt umber glazes according to the recipe. Apply the pale yellow glaze loosely over the whole surface with a 3" brush.
- While the pale yellow is wet, dab on the burnt orange, then the burnt umber glazes randomly with a brush. Use a rag to gently blend the three colors, creating a mottled marble effect. Let dry overnight
Crackle Kit
- Apply the two varnishes from the crackle kit following the directions found in the kit. The two varnishes don't like each other and cracks will appear as they dry. Let dry and cure overnight
- Rub artist's oil into the cracks and wipe the excess off the rag
