Tools and Materials Needed

Getting Started

  1. Paint the tabletop with 2 coats of black latex paint. Let dry.
  2. Find the center of the table using 2 pieces of string placed perpendicularly across the top. Their intersecting point is the center. Place the clock face down so that the 12, 3, 6, and 9 line up with the string.
  3. Draw a chalk line around the clock face. Using the chalk line, make rays around the table through the center by pinging through the 1 and the 7, the 2 and the 8, the 4 and the 10, and the 5 and the 11.
  4. Decide on the width of the ray you would like, tape the width at the edge of the table by putting down half on one side of the chalk line and half on the other side, then tape down the length so that it all meets at one point at the center. Remove the tape creating the width at the edge. Cut the tape so that it does not go over the clock face. Press it down firmly.
  5. Apply several very thin coats of white latex paint with a small foam roller inside the tape lines. Let dry between coats.
  6. Glue down the clock face in the center. Outline the rays using a ruler and a silver paint pen.
  7. Apply several coats of water-based varnish. Let dry thoroughly.
