Happiness is connected to energy, and without one, we don't have the other. In the same way as with a warm and alive color, a happy mood vibrates with energy.
Yellow and orange are the colors most closely associated with lifting our spirits. The wide range of hues radiates different levels of emotions. A pale yellow bathroom can gently wake us with a smile in the morning. Orange, although more bold than yellow, is easier on the eyes. A flaming orange dining room is captivating and full of celebration, probably the most sociable of all colors.
Pinks can be both dramatic and fun, with a great sense of movement and sparkle. Pink can be just as inviting on a floor as on the walls. Add a touch of blue to pink, and a variety of warm lilacs and lavenders are produced. Too much blue, and the mood cools into mauves and purples.
Blues are traditionally associated with a calm mood, but once combined with a little green, they lose their meditative quality. Theses refreshing turquoises and aquas are youthful and invigorating. Reflective of the feelings experienced as we move through water, these colors imbue pure clarity with a relaxed energy.
Greens can be peaceful or nostalgic, and there are certain tints of green that will always make us smile.
Bright colors are often for the brave at heart; start by taking a few small steps with brightly colored cushions and fabrics, vases, frames, and bowls. Keep furnishings uncluttered and clean lined so they don't fight with that vibrant color scheme.
