BEFORE YOU BUY
Second hand furniture is a great way to furnish a home inexpensively. But make sure that any damage is repairable. Paint can't cover up large gouges or gouges - and it certainly can't replace a missing leg!
PREPARE, PREPARE, PREPARE
Make sure you take the time to prepare the surface. Whether you strip it using a hand stripper, or go with a heat stripper, or even find a real gem that only needs a sanding, make sure you put in the time... Believe me: it will pay off when you're finished!
