I'm trying to paint black stripes in my daughter's bathroom. I've used painters blue tape and have run my fingernails along the edge to get a tight seal. However, after peeling the tape off my "test stripes". I found that black tape bled through any tips?

Hi Jeannine,
Stripes are a clever decorating tool and a quick solution to give the most ordinary room and extraordinary feel. Painting stripes is easy, but there is a certain amount of measuring, marking and taping that does take patience. Always use low-tack painter's tape or you will lift off the underlying paint when you remove it. Press down firmly along the edge to be painted. Do not load your brush or roller. Apply a thin layer of paint and move away from the edge, and building up the colour. Remove the tape immediately and wipe any leaks with a clean rag.
