Tools & Materials Needed:
  • Frame made of MDF or wood
  • Chartreuse latex, satin
  • 2” paintbrush
  • Dry adhesive transfers
  • Flat plastic or wooden stick
  • Silver or aluminum leaf (aluminum is cheaper and just as nice)
  • Soft brush
  • Spray varnish
Instructions:
Step 1. Prime and apply two coats of the chartreuse base coat to the frame. Let dry for 4 hours.

Step 2. Cut long strips of dry adhesive to fit the surface and sides of the frame.

Step 3. (Shot 1) Place the dry adhesive sticky side down on the frame and rub the sheet with the wood or plastic stick. (Metal will rip the paper.) Make certain that all the dry adhesive is transferred to the frame as the silver leaf will not adhere to spots where adhesive is missing. Remove the transfer paper.

Step 4. (Shot 2) Carefully place the silver leaf onto the frame and smooth it out gently with a soft brush.

Step 5. Apply 3 coats of spray varnish. Always wear a mask and work in a well-ventilated area when spraying.
