HARLEQUIN DIAMOND CORNER CABINET

Tools & Materials Needed:
- Medium and ruby red and gold latex paint, satin
- 2” paintbrush
- Small foam roller and paint tray
- Marker and ruler
- Mylar X-acto knife
- Spray adhesive
- Low-tack painter’s tape
- Paper towels
Instructions
Step 1. Remove the shelves from the cabinet. Apply 2 coats of medium red base coat to the inside walls. Let dry for 4 hours.
Step 2. To make the diamond stencil, with a marker and ruler draw 5 elongated diamonds of equal size, midpoints touching, onto a sheet of Mylar. Cut out every other diamond with an X-acto knife.
Step 3. (Shot 1) Position the stencil above the line where the shelves will be. Use spray adhesive as well as low-tack tape to hold the stencil firmly in place. Use a small foam roller to fill in the diamonds with ruby red paint. Dip the roller into the paint in the tray and then remove the excess onto a paper towel. Roll the paint over the diamond cutouts. Move the stencil along as you fill in all the red diamonds. Latex paint dries to the touch quickly, but make sure you don’t press a stencil onto a wet diamond or it will smear the paint. Clean the stencil periodically to make sure there is no paint buildup on theback.
Step 4. (Shots 2 and 3) Repeat the stenciling process for the alternating gold diamonds.
