LATTICE BORDER
PROJECT CATEGORIES
Tools & Materials Needed:
- light seafoam green and white latex paint, satin
- Paint tray and roller
- Tape measure
- Chalk line pencil
- Low-tack painter's tape
- Two part lattice stencil
- Stencil adhesive
- Dark seafoam green and periwinkle blue stencil paint
- 2 Stencil brushes
Instructions
Step 1. Apply two basecoats of the light seafoam green and allow to dry overnight.
Step 2. Tape off a 1 1/2-foot border around the top of the wall (where the lattice will be) and apply 2 coats of white paint to the lattice section. Let it dry overnight.
Step 3. Take the first stencil overlay, spray the back with stencil adhesive and place it into position on the wall. Use painter's tape to secure it firmly to the wall. Fill in the registration marks with pencil. This is very important. You will need these marks as you move the stencil along, and also to line up your second overlay.
Step 4. (Shot 1) With the stencil brush and periwinkle blue stencil paint, lightly shade in either side of the lattice squares. Do not fill in the whole square, but feather the paint toward the center, leaving the middle white. Lift the stencil and move it along using the registration marks to realign it. Continue in this manner all around the border.
Step 5. (Shot 2) Spray the back of the second lattice overlay and place it into position, again using the registration marks as your guide. With the dark seafoam green paint, stencil in the alternate squares. Apply the green a little heavier on the outside of each square, and lighter in the middle.
