GILDED HEADBOARD

Tools & Materials Needed:
- Canvas on a stretcher frame, art supply stores will make a stretcher to your dimensions
- Fiberfill padding, enough to cover the canvas
- Scissors
- Spray adhesive
- Stretch velvet
- Staple gun
- Frame molding (the back of the molding strips have an L-shape cut out of the inside edges to permit the picture to be set in)
- Colored metallic leaf
- Aquasize
- Small brush
- Soft brush
- Nails or screws
- Hammer or screwdriver
- Picture hanging kit
Instructions
Step 1. (Shot 1) Spray the canvas on the stretcher frame with adhesive and adhere one or two layers of fiberfill. Cut the velvet to fit plus enough to turn around the edges to the back.
Step 2. (Shot 2) Stretch the velvet over the top and staple it to the back of the frame.
Step 3. Assemble your decorative molding frame to fit over the velvet headboard.
Step 4. (Shot 3) To gild the frame, apply the Aquasize with a brush, making sure to get into all the indentations.
Step 5. (Shot 4) Once the Aquasize is tacky to the touch, gently place a piece of the leaf on top. Brush it smooth with a soft brush, and let dry for between 15 and 60 minutes depending on the product.
Step 6. (Shot 5) Use the soft dry brush to brush gently over the leaf, getting rid of any loose bits.
Step 7. Attach the frame to the velvet headboard with nails or screws Step 8. Hang the headboard to the wall as you would a framed piece of art.
