FOILED BEDSIDE TABLES

Tools & Materials Needed:
- Raw wood bedside table
- Sandpaper (optional)
- Tack cloth (optional)
- Wood primer
- Paint tray and small roller
- Charcoal latex paint, satin
- Aquasize
- Foam brush
- Silver leaf Soft brush
- Dry size transfer, border pattern
- Burnishing tool or wooden end of a paint brush
- Lavender metallic leaf
- Acrylic spray varnish
- Semigloss acrylic varnish
- Varnish brush or sponge brush
Instructions
Step 1. Lightly sand the table if necessary, and wipe off any dust with a tack cloth. Apply a coat of primer.
Step 2. (Shot 1) Apply two base coats of the charcoal and let dry over night.
Step 3. (Shot 2) Apply the Aquasize over the top and edges of the table. Wait until it dries to the tacky stage, about 10 to 15 minutes.
Step 4. (Shot 3) Gently lay the silver leaf over the tabletop and edges, and smooth down with a soft dry brush. Let dry for 1 to 4 hours depending on the humidity and product you are using.
Step 5. (Shot 4) Once dry, go over the leaf again with the soft brush to remove any excess, leaving a smooth silver surface.
Step 6. (Shot 5) Line up the dry size border pattern so that it is running straight around the perimeter of the table, and about 1" from the edge. Lay the pattern adhesive side down. Rub with the burnishing tool to transfer the adhesive to the tabletop. Remove the pattern.
Step 7. (Shot 6) Lay the lavender metallic leaf over the dry size and smooth it down gently with the soft brush. Brush away any excess.
Step 8. Seal the top with a coat of varnish. Use spray varnish for the first coat to protect the leaf. Then finish with the liquid. Let dry completely.
