VENETIAN PLASTER WALLS
PROJECT CATEGORIES
Tools & Materials Needed:
- High-adhesive primer
- Low-pile roller and paint tray
- Venetian plaster
- Metal spatulas or plaster trowels
- Gold metallic gel or gold glaze
- Satin acrylic varnish
- Varnish brush or foam brush
Instructions
Step 1. (Shot 1) Prime the walls and let them dry overnight. Apply a thin skim coat of plaster with the spatula, so thin you can see some areas of the primer showing. Use a cross-hatch motion, applying the plaster in one direction and then another. You want only a very subtle texture left behind. Let the plaster dry.
Step 2. (Shot 2) Apply the gold gel in the same manner as the plaster skim coat. Smear the gel with the spatula over and across the plaster to highlight the subtle texture underneath. Let it dry.
Step 3. (Shot 3) Veil over the top with a second coat of thinly applied plaster. It should be a skim coat that shows the tones of white, while allowing bits of gold gel to shimmer through. Let this layer dry overnight.
Step 4. Because this is a bathroom, you should apply two coats of acrylic varnish to seal.
