All facets of design have a place in our lives to some extent, and my own homes span an eclectic assortment of dwellings: an urban modern condo, a Victorian townhouse, a tiny English city cottage and now an Italian country house.

I tend to seek one quality when experimenting with style and colour. I take special delight in what I think of as forever style. You find it in rooms that have a story to tell, a story that has been lived and told over and over again.

An inviting palette of browns and warm red creates a luscious central theme in this contemporary bedroom

The colour brown is said to make us feel safe and secure. Nature is filled with browns in all variations from the multiple hues found in wood to earth tones, sand and stone. However, we don’t often think of brown as a decorating shade.
